Federal officials are reportedly embarking on door-to-door visits and conducting health surveys with East Palestine, Ohio residents amid heightened fears over the safety of the air and water in the town.

The officials are disbursing two-page flyers outlining the resources available to residents, including how to schedule free health checks and how to get testing for drinking water, CNN reported. The Biden administration green-lit the move amid local frustrations and concerns about the long-term health ramifications of the toxic spill.

OHIO TRAIN DERAILMENT: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT WHETHER THE WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK

So far, the EPA, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have been distributing the flyers and are reportedly striving to hit 400 homes by Monday.

President Joe Biden has not unveiled plans to visit the community after having traveled to Eastern Europe last week to commemorate the anniversary of Russia's invasion of neighboring Ukraine.

“I’ve spoken with every single major figure in both Pennsylvania and in Ohio, and so the idea that we’re not engaged is just simply not there. And initially, there was not a request for me to go out even before I was heading over to Kyiv, so I’m keeping very close tabs on it. We’re doing all we can," Biden told reporters Friday.

Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg have been subject to intense criticism from Republicans over their response to the crisis. Buttigieg first visited East Palestine last week.

On Feb. 3, a Norfolk Southern freight train transporting toxic chemicals, such as vinyl chloride, derailed near East Palestine. Fearing an explosion, officials conducted a controlled burn, but a black plume that emerged afterward exacerbated fears about the dangerous chemicals being released into the nearby soil, air, and water.

Some residents later reported rashes and other health ailments. Thousands of dead wildlife have also been discovered nearby the wreckage.

The EPA ordered a temporary stop to the removal of contaminated waste from the crash on Saturday. Last week, the National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on the derailment and concluded the incident was preventable.

The beloved shiba inu, Kabosu, who inspired the "Doge" meme and is known for her side-eye expression, is very sick with leukemia and liver disease, the owner shared Wednesday.

Kabosu, who is currently 17 years old and lives in Japan, first began displaying worrying symptoms on Christmas Eve, her owner Atsuko Sato said. Kabosu stopped eating and drinking voluntarily on Christmas Eve and was taken to an animal hospital where she was diagnosed with “acute cholangiohepatitis and chronic lymphoma leukemia,” Sato said.

According to the most recent update, Kabosu has begun eating and drinking again but is very jaundiced and has badly elevated liver enzymes. However, she is on antibiotics.

“It’s going to be alright. Because we get our power from all over the world!” Sato wrote in an Instagram post. "To all of you who are worried, thank you very much."

Kabosu rose to internet fame in 2010, when an image of her with her paws folded and a quizzical expression took off on social media. Internet users have edited her face onto pastries and landmarks, following her success, and brands such as Oreo have also used the meme.

The meme has since inspired dogecoin, a cryptocurrency that was established in 2013 and was the first meme-based currency.

Lymphatic leukemia is a type of blood cancer that typically occurs in older dogs, according to VCA Animal Hospital. Kabosu is considered old by shiba inu standards because shiba inus typically live 12-15 years, according to the Miami Herald. Kabosu's other condition, Cholangiohepatitis, occurs when an animal’s gallbladder, bile ducts, and liver are inflamed, the outlet reported.

Trump likens US to 'person dying of cancer' in fiery tirade against FBI

Former President Donald Trump likened the current outlook of the United States to a "person dying of cancer" in a scathing Truth Social post about the FBI.

Talking about Friday's fresh revelations from the Twitter Files that the social media giant had "constant and pervasive" communications with the bureau, Trump declared that such "thugs and Tyrants must be dealt with," or else, the country could meet its demise.

REP. BRAD WENSTRUP SAYS THAT TRUST IN FBI IS 'WANING' IN CONGRESS AMID TWITTER FILES

"Our Country is SICK inside, very much like a person dying of Cancer. The Crooked FBI, the so-called Department of 'Justice,' and 'Intelligence,' all parts of the Democrat Party and System, is the Cancer. These Weaponized Thugs and Tyrants must be dealt with, or our once great and beautiful Country will die!!!" Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

On Friday, journalist Matt Taibbi revealed that the FBI often flagged content for Twitter to review for content moderation purposes and underscored that there had been over 150 emails between the bureau and former Twitter trust and safety chief Yoel Roth between January 2020 to November 2022. At one point, Twitter executives had near weekly meetings with law enforcement officials, the journalist noted.

Newly anointed Twitter CEO Elon Musk has given sprawling internal Twitter access to Taibbi, journalist Bari Weiss, and author Michael Shellenberger, who have released the so-called Twitter Files outlining internal company deliberations on content moderation and key flashpoints such as the suspension of Trump's account following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

"This (the FBI’s wild and crazy relationship with Twitter) is absolutely a coordinated effort to change Election Results! It worked, but they got caught. This is why people protested in Washington. Our 2020 Presidential Election was Crooked, Rigged, and Stolen, and yet the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks & Thugs didn’t spend any time investigating this outrage!" the former president wrote in another post.

Earlier this week, Trump vowed to ban the federal government from "colluding with any organization" if he retakes the White House in 2024. He laid out a litany of measures he would pursue in a hypothetical second term as president to counter the concerns conservatives have raised about censorship in light of the Twitter Files.

His policy announcement, which came Thursday, was overshadowed by the debut of the Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection, in which his followers could pay $99 for a digital card bearing his likeness. Some of his closest allies, such as Steve Bannon, criticized the move. Nevertheless, the collection reportedly sold out and amassed $4.5 million.
