Brittney Griner manufactured a public visual appeal in a Russian courtroom Monday as officials set a day for her trial months immediately after she was arrested for allegedly smuggling medicines by a Moscow airport.

The prison demo was established for July 1, and the WNBA star was requested to remain in custody for the length of her criminal demo. The court docket in the Moscow suburb of Khimki extended her detention for one more 6 months. She could face up to 10 many years in jail if convicted.

Russian media has speculated about the likely of a prisoner swap for Griner with convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout, nicknamed the "Merchant of Death."
