Lions' DT John Penisini retires after two seasons in the NFL: 'I’m glad I obtained to encounter it'

Detriot Lions defensive lineman John Penisini announced his retirement Saturday after just two seasons in the NFL.

The former Utah Utes standout, 25, took to social media to share the news.

"I have built the decision to retire from soccer," Penisini wrote. 

"I’m certainly going to pass up my teammates and the coaching staff but I’m glad I bought to working experience it. I’m happy and energized for regardless of what existence has for me."

Penisini did not expose why he was retiring, but next Penisini's rookie time, head coach Dan Campbell observed Penisini had surgical procedures to take away huge calcium deposits from his shoulders.

Penisini was drafted by the Lions in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He started off 12 online games in two seasons and registered 49 tackles,​​ a sack and a fumble restoration.
