Rebecca Grossman, a California woman who prosecutors say was racing when she struck and killed two young children in a crosswalk in 2020, pleaded not responsible to murder, vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, and other costs on Friday. 

Her high-profile attorney, Tony Buzbee, mentioned after Friday's arraignment that "what occurred that night was a horrible, unspeakable tragedy," but "traveling around the posted velocity limit is simply just not murder, no make any difference how the DA tries to twist the points for his very own reasons."

Buzbee blamed the crash on a "improperly marked, unguarded, and unlit" crosswalk that he says the city failed to preserve.
