The Kansas Department of Overall health and Ecosystem reported, as of Tuesday, that it knew of at least 2,000 cattle deaths due to large temperatures and humidity. 

The department's spokesperson mentioned the toll represents facilities that contacted the company for support disposing of cattle carcasses.

Temperatures arrived at 108 degrees in northwest Kansas on Monday and the Nationwide Weather Assistance (NWS) in Wichita and Topeka warned that sweltering heat would extend into subsequent week.
