A Wisconsin mother alleges that the Oconomowoc Area College District was striving to quell her criticism of elements, these kinds of as publications, inside the district by threatening her with legal action. 

Just after Alexandra Schweitzer, the president of a No Still left Turn in Training chapter in the point out, raised concerns about the appropriateness of supplies in the district, the district responded with a cease and desist letter that threatened the risk of future litigation if she ongoing to make "defamatory statements" by means of meetings or in email. Her counsel, the Wisconsin Law & Liberty team, responded Friday stating that Schweitzer "will not be revoking any statement she built" and accused the district of using taxpayer dollars to silence a parent.

In the cease and desist, the district stated that Schweitzer's defamatory statements bundled her statements about the district's use of a guide referred to as "The 57 Bus," which the mother stated consists of sexually specific texts. The district reported that only portions of the text had been examine to college students "for the intent of vital thinking and composing craft" and had been not readily available to college students. They also claimed that publications Schweitzer considered inappropriate have been not available "to… college students in the library for checkout… [or] in the District's curriculum."

The district even more claimed that the mother or father was presented notice that "texts… deemed inappropriate [were] not readily available to Oconomowoc Space University District students in the library for checkout, nor [were] they used in the District’s curriculum."

The letter demanded the guardian "cease and desist" from making "defamatory statements" about the district, and challenge a retraction e-mail "indicating the data is fake."
