Dozens of customers of Congress also attended the celebration, including Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who led negotiations on behalf of Republicans for the Safer Communities Act. Cornyn managed to get 14 complete Senate Republicans to vote for the monthly bill, clearing the chamber's filibuster threshold.

The monthly bill would supply funding for states to develop pink flag guidelines that could retain weapons away from men and women who are a danger to themselves or other people. It would also boost background checks for gun customers under 21, insert penalties for some gun criminals and give funding for a assortment of wellbeing and psychological health-similar systems.
