Previous Washington security Deshazor Everett pleaded guilty to reckless driving for his role in a December crash that killed his passenger.

Everett was initially billed in Virginia with felony involuntary manslaughter in January immediately after an investigation identified he was dashing ahead of his sports activities motor vehicle slammed into trees and rolled in excess of on the night of Dec. 23.

Reckless driving is a misdemeanor in Virginia punishable by up to a year in jail. He's scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 8 in Typical District Court docket in Loudoun County.

Everett's plea to the reduced charge was entered Tuesday. Messages sent to Everett’s legal professional and a spokesperson for the Commonwealth’s Legal professional on Wednesday were being not immediately returned.

Everett was taken care of for serious accidents soon after the crash. His passenger, Olivia S. Peters, 29, of Las Vegas, died at a medical center.

Washington put Everett on hurt reserve just after the crash and unveiled him just after the year.

Everett, who turned 30 in February, was a specific teams captain in 2018 and played 7 NFL seasons, all with Washington. He played in 14 games last 12 months in advance of the crash along a road in Chantilly, Virginia.

An investigation identified Everett was driving at a lot more than twice the 45 mph (72 kph) pace limit on Dec. 23 when his Nissan GT-R left the roadway, according to a statement from the sheriff's place of work following Everett turned himself in at the Loudoun County Grownup Detention Middle in February.
