A Rochester, New York, police officer died Thursday night and yet another officer was hurt just after they had been shot by a suspect when on responsibility in the northeast element of the town.

"This is a tragedy for our group," Rochester Mayor Malik Evans said, in accordance to WHAM-Television. "I'm asking Rochester to pray for these officers and their family members. They go out each individual working day and set their life on the line. And even though there are some persons who sit on the sidelines, these men are on the entrance traces, seeking to maintain our group harmless. We question for prayers for these officers, their family members, the RPD and the entire city of Rochester."

A lady was also shot, in accordance to the Democrat & Chronicle. 

Her affliction and that of the surviving officer are unknown.

Aspects of the shooting have not been unveiled. 

"Our views are with the household and fellow officers of the Rochester Law enforcement Department after the loss of one of their have this night in a senseless capturing," the Town of Utica, New York Law enforcement Office wrote on Facebook. "We also pray for the nutritious and fast recovery of the 2nd officer shot in the exact same incident."

Rochester is dealing with a surge in gun violence.

Zeldin's tweet arrived just hrs right after a suspect attempted to assault the congressman and gubernatorial applicant although he was speaking on stage at a marketing campaign event in Perinton, New York. The suspect, David G. Jakubonis, was billed with felony next degree attempted assault. Jakubonis was unveiled on his possess recognizance, in accordance to the Monroe County Sheriff.

Zeldin had predicted Jakubonis' release on Twitter, crafting: "The attacker will probably be instantaneously introduced beneath NY’s rules."
