He was weathered and flea-bitten, and the relatives assumed the injury on his head was from the fence, but veterinarians later on determined it as a bullet wound. On July 18, the pooch was taken to Mainline Animal Rescue, a PSPCA affiliate.

The PSPCA shared the news of Arthur's restoration on social media.

"Arthur is lucky to be alive. And that is not an understatement. He was shot in between the eyes and seemingly remaining for lifeless," the agency wrote on Instagram.

Veterinarians experienced cleaned the wound and took x-rays, and discovered it was a gunshot wound concerning his eyes.

"Arthur had been shot at an angle that miraculously skipped his mind," the PSPCA wrote. "The bullet still left a hole in Arthur's head & induced problems to his airway passages and mouth. He was protected in fleas, had ear bacterial infections and was anemic. But, he was alive." 

The PSPCA Humane Legislation Enforcement group is investigating the incident.

It was not obvious who shot the animal, but his past house owners have been ruled out as suspects. The PSPCA thinks the suspected shooter resides in Lancaster County.

The prior homeowners, who operate a breeding operation, launched the corgi to the agency’s care. The doggy is now recognized as "Arthur, The Survivor."

Arthur has been staying in the medical center getting therapy with antibiotics.

The corporation said it stays hopeful that Arthur would make a entire recovery, but there are even now bullet fragments in his wound that may well call for specialty care. 

The PSPCA described him as "the most light and friendliest boy."
