A U.S. postal worker in Maryland was robbed at knife-level in front of a $3 million house previously this week, police reported.

Montgomery County Law enforcement officers were called to an upscale community just northwest of the Washington, D.C. space on Tuesday afternoon, in which they explained a male suspect in his 20s employed a knife to rob a postal employee of his personalized belongings, WJLA-Tv noted.

Officials from the U.S. Postal Inspection Company (USPIS) also responded to examine.

Authorities reported the suspect did not steal any mail or USPS assets and later fled the scene in a grey sedan.

Suzan Murray, a resident in the neighborhood where the robbery took area, described the suspect as "fairly brazen" as a lot of of the houses have safety cameras and a law enforcement power "shut by," WJLA reported.

She also said this was not the first time a mail shipping and delivery services worker was robbed in the neighborhood.

"You can find a great deal of us in the neighborhood who have gotten caught up in the theft of letters," Murray mentioned, for every the report. "There are neighbors of ours who have had checks stolen in the tens of thousands."

Murray stated she has been individually influenced by the robberies, possessing experienced checks totaling $7,000 stolen from her.

"We misplaced a look at. I advised my neighbor and she mentioned, 'whatever you do, you really should not use that blue mailbox,'" Murray instructed the outlet. "And I explained, 'ahh I skipped that memo.' And I told my spouse, and a couple of months later on, he put a check out in the blue mailbox, and that just one was stolen, and I was like, 'I told you not that blue mailbox!"

Recovering the dollars has been tricky, she explained.

"So, you go to the submit office environment and they say, 'go to the law enforcement station.' And then you go to the law enforcement station and they say, 'no which is not us, go to the bank.' We go to PNC Bank — they are a neighborhood bank — and they labored really tough to get us the dollars again as quickly as they could, but [it still] took months and it was genuinely, actually frustrating," she said, WJLA documented.

Last thirty day period, USPIS declared six robberies of postal assistance mail carriers in and about the Washington, D.C. and Maryland spots.

"This alarming development wants to cease," USPIS spokesman Michael Martel reported at a push conference forward of the July 4th weekend. "It is a sad condition of matters when it comes down to robberies in opposition to anyone that offers an important assistance to our communities. But it’s taking place here, and it is received to conclude."

All six robberies transpired at gunpoint and in two of the situations the postal worker was strike in the encounter or head. Neither was hospitalized and only sustained slight accidents.

The robberies took spot in Wheaton, Columbia, and Takoma Park, Maryland, and in areas northwest and northeast of Washington, D.C.
