The White Household explained Friday that it finds the stabbing of writer Salman Rushdie "reprehensible" and Biden administration officers are praying for his recovery.

Rushdie was stabbed numerous occasions prior to a speech at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York, on Friday. The attacker allegedly rushed onto the phase and stabbed him in the neck. Rushdie is undergoing operation at a community healthcare facility.

"Currently, the country and the globe witnessed a reprehensible assault against the writer Salman Rushdie," White Home Nationwide Safety Adviser Jake Sullivan claimed in a assertion. "This act of violence is appalling. All of us in the Biden-Harris Administration are praying for his speedy restoration."

A Condition Trooper assigned to the event at the Chautauqua Establishment took the suspect, discovered as 24-year-old Hadi Matar, into custody immediately just after the attack, New York State Police claimed. The function moderator also endured a minor head injuries.

Andrew Wylie, an agent for Rushdie, informed The New York Situations that the writer is on a ventilator and is not able to talk.

Rushdie has lived under the risk of a fatwa on his lifetime immediately after Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini condemned his e book, "The Satanic Verses," as blasphemy in 1989 and called for the author's loss of life. The book was also banned in Iran. A fatwa is a decree from an Islamic religious chief.

Iran has made available more than $3 million for anybody who kills Rushdie.
