Los Angeles pastor John MacArthur publicly rebukes Gavin Newsom for 'diabolical' procedures, invoking Jesus

A prominent Christian pastor in Los Angeles issued an open letter Thursday that rebuked Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom for his recent multi-condition billboard campaign that promoted abortion by quoting Jesus.

Pastor John MacArthur, 83, who serves as senior pastor of Grace Neighborhood Church in Los Angeles, also accused the governor of exhibiting a worldview whose "diabolical results" have correctly trashed the state, main to "epidemics of crime, homelessness, sexual perversions (like homosexuality and transgenderism), and other malignant expressions of human distress that stem right from corrupt community policy."

Newsom was achieved with outrage earlier this month from Christians who took offense when his gubernatorial marketing campaign erected billboards in states wherever abortion is outlawed or restricted, urging ladies in these types of states to come to California to abort their infants.

"In mid-September, you revealed to the overall nation how totally rebellious from God you are when you sponsored billboards across The usa promoting the slaughter of children, whom He produces in the womb," MacArthur wrote.

"You additional compounded the wickedness of that murderous campaign with a reprehensible act of gross blasphemy, quoting the very phrases of Jesus from Mark 12:31 as if you could somehow twist His that means and arrogate His name in favor of butchering unborn infants," the pastor ongoing.

MacArthur went on to convey worry that Newsom's "soul lies in grave, eternal peril" for having "twisted" the words and phrases of the Bible, and that he will someday be identified as to give an account right before God for his actions as governor.

Newsom's marketing campaign did not reply to WHD News Digital's ask for for comment by time of publication.

MacArthur and his church created headlines in 2021 when they received an $800,000 settlement right after tussling with condition and county authorities for continuing to congregate in defiance of the government's COVID-19 protocols limiting residences of worship.

Citing Jesus and the Bible as the top authority over his congregation, MacArthur wrote in a lengthy web site post in July 2020 that "we are unable to and will not acquiesce to a govt-imposed moratorium on our weekly congregational worship or other regular company gatherings. Compliance would be disobedience to our Lord’s obvious instructions."
