Writer and director Kenya Barris is switching out The Wizard of Oz's Dust Bowl neighborhood and opting for an LGBT theme in his adaptation of the vintage film.

“Now we’re likely to convert a mirror on wherever we’re at ideal now and just take disparate figures from the LGBTQ group, from distinctive cultural communities and socioeconomic communities, and notify a tale that reflects the globe. I feel this is the ideal time to do that,” he told Variety.

Previous thirty day period, Warner Bros. announced Barris as the adaptation's author and director. Barris's Khalabo Ink Society is also creating the reimagined typical.

“The unique was an allegory and a reflection of the way the earth was at the time with things like the Good Melancholy and the Dust Bowl,” he discussed. Because the country's placement and issues have shifted, so has this tale, according to the writer and director.

Of the ambitious remake, Barris claimed, “I’m nervous.”

“Hopefully, my film can past as very long as the authentic does," he reported. “Hopefully my film comes out.”
