Four days after the fierce Russian attacks on Ukraine, power has been restored almost everywhere in the capital Kiev. The military administration reports this via messaging service Telegram. The repair work on the electricity grid is in its final phase, but interruptions can still occur due to the high load on the network.

Since Sunday morning, the power, water and heat supply and the mobile network have been almost completely restored, the administration said. President Volodimir Zelensky on Saturday had been unusually strong on Vitali Klitsjko, the mayor of Kiev because of the power cuts, because he would not take the situation seriously. Klitschko, on the other hand, warned of political discord and called for solidarity. He insured to the German boulevardblad picture on sunday that the repair work on the power grid is being done “in record time”.

Dozens of missiles

Russia on Wednesday hit the country’s energy infrastructure with dozens of missiles and cruise missiles, causing heavy damage. People in many other parts of the country were also without power, while temperatures dropped below freezing.

In Kherson, where according to the authorities, one was killed and two injured in mass attacks on Saturday, five percent of the population has regained relief and a hospital has been reconnected to the power grid.

Two missiles

On Sunday, the southern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih was hit by a Russian missile strike, local authorities said. Two rockets destroyed transport infrastructure and the military administration called on the population to take refuge in bomb shelters.

Air raid sirens were also sounded in other regions in eastern and southern Ukraine. The Nikopol district north of the Dnipro River was also hit by artillery fire, and a farm in a suburb of Zaporizhia was hit by two rockets.

Meanwhile, according to British intelligence, the Russians are suffering heavy losses in the Donetsk region, including in heavy fighting around the cities of Pavlivka and Vuhledar. According to London, those battles imply that Russia may see the region as a starting point for an offensive to the north.
