California residents still waiting to receive up to $1,050 to help offset the costs of rising inflation rates can expect the next wave of payments to arrive by the end of December.

Officials are set to begin distributing more of the state's Middle Class Tax Refund payments throughout December, sending roughly $9.5 billion to California residents through direct payments, according to ABC 10 News.

Payments can either be delivered through direct deposit or can be sent as a prepaid debit card, which may take a few weeks to be delivered.

The state began sending out the payments in October, but some residents have still not received their checks or debit cards. However, officials announced that residents with last names beginning with letters N through V should expect to receive their payments by Dec. 31.

Any outstanding payments should arrive by the end of January.

To be eligible for the payments, residents must have filed their 2020 tax returns by the deadline of Oct. 15, 2021, and cannot be listed as a dependent. Payment amounts will vary depending on marital status and annual income.

Married couples filing jointly could be paid anywhere from $400 to $1,050, while heads of household could receive anywhere from $200 to $700, depending on income and number of dependents.
