Gardell asserts that it is no longer true that exports gain from a weak currency.

Swedish investor Christopher Gardell believes the country should abandon the krona and adopt the euro. An article about it is published in a Swedish daily newspaper.

The founder and CEO of the investment firm Cevian Capital is Gardell. He serves on the board of the Finnish company Metso Outotec and is one of Nordea’s major owners.

Gardell gives a somewhat critical description of the crown in an interview with SvD.

The publication is told by Gardell that “the krone is a terrible currency.”

Gardell is well known for being against the euro. In the 2003 vote, he was against adopting the single currency.

According to Curtain, he arrived to the conclusion that the Swedish currency market had insufficient liquidity because the krona is too small. Gardell claims that as a result, the Swedish market is viewed as posing a risk to investments.

In Sweden, maintaining one’s own currency is frequently justified by the fact that it functions “like an airbag,” according to SvD. Because Swedish goods and services are more affordable when the krona is weak, it helps Swedish businesses compete on the global market.

This type of thinking was effective 20–30 years ago, but not any longer, claims Gardell.

“Back then, the goods were produced at this location and shipped around the globe. Today, industries may be found everywhere “Gardell informs the publication.
