On December 11, 2022, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published new data on the losses of the Russian army during the hostilities on Ukrainian territory (from February 24, 2022). It is the 291st day of the war.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the losses of the Russian army are as follows:
personnel – 94140 (+380)
aircraft – 281 (+0)
helicopters – 264 (+0)
tanks – 2942 (+2)
armored personnel carriers/armored vehicles/BMP – 5920 (+3)

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not publish regular reports on losses in Ukraine. In an interview published on September 21, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that the Russian army lost only 5937 killed. At the same time, Shoigu stated that the losses of the Ukrainian army were 10 times greater, which sounded absurd.

The Russian authorities claim that the Ukrainian side is spreading false information about the losses of Russian troops.

The head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces said on November 9 that, according to the Pentagon, the Russian armed forces have lost more than 100,000 soldiers killed and wounded in Ukraine, and added that the armed forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the war “probably” suffered about the same losses. .

On December 1, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak, on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel, said that from the Ukrainian side, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from 10,000 to 13,000 servicemen were killed.

According to confirmed UN data, from February 24 to November 2022, about 6,700 civilians in Ukraine were killed, more than 10,000 were injured. At the same time, the UN emphasizes that we are talking only about verified incidents, and the real numbers are “significantly higher.” Ukrainian authorities say tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians have died (most of the victims in Mariupol, according to local authorities, more than 20,000), including more than 440 children.
