Twitter is facing a lawsuit after reportedly failing to pay its rent for the company's San Francisco headquarters.

The social media giant owes its landlord $136,260 in unpaid rent, the suit filed Thursday by Columbia Property Trust reads.

Twitter's San Francisco headquarters has been the site of rampant cost-cutting following Elon Musk's purchase and takeover of the platform, according to a report, and the company's failure to pay rent was first alleged in early December.

Musk had wanted to renegotiate Twitter's lease in the wake of mass layoffs, per reports.

A wide array of staffers, including cleaning and security services, lost their jobs in the San Francisco and New York offices, and, in the former, Musk condensed Twitter's headquarters from four floors to two, the report noted. As a result of the absence of janitorial services, some employees have resorted to bringing their own toilet paper. The newly condensed space has further reportedly caused the smells of food and body odor to settle in.

Similar actions have occurred in the platform's Sacramento office, while the office in Seattle has been closed, and more layoffs are expected by employees.

Musk finalized his $44 billion purchase of Twitter in October.
