France should exert maximum pressure in order to open the Lachine Corridor, said Laurent Vauquier, the head of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Regional Council of France, today in Syunik.

“It is very important that the international community reacts. The international community becomes guilty by its silence. There is a decision of the International Court of Justice, and that decision must be respected. And what can France do, in my opinion, what should it do? to apply maximum pressure so that we can open the way for humanitarian aid at least in the first phase as a first step,” Vauquier said.

The delegation headed by a French official is on a two-day visit to Syunik Marz, today visited the entrance to Lachin’s closed corridor, the area called Karmir Pnt of Tegh village, noting that with this move, he wants to show the world that France is next to its friendly country, Armenia.

Laurent Vauquier expressed concern about the humanitarian crisis caused by the closure of the corridor for more than 100 days, considering this behavior of Azerbaijan unacceptable.

“His (Azerbaijani-ed.) hope is that they have promotions here, they will be established here, people will gradually forget, and the fact will remain that they are already here. And in that regard, it is very important to constantly remind that there is international law, and the rules of that international law are violated, the decision of the international court is violated.

Here we are not even talking about the borders and demarcation of two sovereign states, we are talking about 150 thousand people, people whose rights are being violated,” he emphasized.
