“Tibet so close to heaven” is an exhibition by Jacques Borgetto curated by Laura Serani, with a book Filigranes Editions, which will be inaugurated on Wednesday 5 April (6-9 pm), scheduled from 6 April to 3 June (Wed- Friday 15.30-19.30, Saturday 11.30-19.30) at ’10b Photography’ in via S. Lorenzo da Brindisi 10b in Rome.

“From Tibet, Jacques Borgetto recounts the serenity, everyday life and spirituality, the persistent traditions and the approaching modernity. The immensity of the sky recalls the question of the denied territory. Dense and contrasted, black and white alternates with color for a unique journey to this land so close to heaven”, reads the presentation.

“Travel is often at the origin of the photographic work of Jacques Borgetto, a ‘long-term’ photographer and traveller, whose way of proceeding is similar to that of explorers. Initially driven by the desire to retrace the itinerary of his Italian emigrant great-uncles in Latin America, Borgetto has never stopped setting out to discover regions whose evolution he has tried, over the years, to document: in Argentina, Chile, Japan, Tibet, Korea, from Latin America to From Asia to Africa, her inner journey transforms and focuses on others, whose culture she tries to understand and tell”, writes Serani.

(Adnkronos) – “Tibet has always been a great mystery to me and continues to exert a profound attraction. The readings of Alexandra David-Néel, and many others, have made me glimpse the richness and uniqueness of this civilization. My travels have given me the opportunity to experience an intense spiritual adventure and to share the life of an exceptional and fascinating people, whose identity is now under threat”, underlines Borgetto among other things.

Jacques Borgetto, whose family comes from a small village in Piedmont, was born in Paris. From a very young age he was passionate about photography, which will accompany him on every trip. This ‘Baudelaire of the image’, as the journalist Alain Mingam defines him, crosses his world and his time, from Europe to South America, from Africa to Asia, to meet his likes. Since 1975, his work has been regularly exhibited in France and abroad.
