Iranian snooker player Hossein Vafei said that he “has a chance for revenge” in the upcoming match against the current world champion of Britain, Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Wafei defeated China’s Ding Junhui 10:6 in the first round of the World Championship on Monday and will play seven-time world champion O’Sullivan on Friday.

He said that he is satisfied with the game and that if he continues like this, he can go far in the Crucible. Asked who he would like to silence with a good game, Vafei replied: “Ronnie O’Sullivan.”

“He’s a sports legend, but he’s only a good person when he’s asleep,” Vafei told Jurosport.

Vafei called on O’Sullivan to end his career last year and said he was not good for the sport. O’Sullivan recently said that he likes being criticized and that Vafei has since learned to keep quiet.

“He’s disrespected me before and God gave me a chance for a rematch and now it’s up to me. I have to face him if I want to be world champion. Get the popcorn ready. It’s going to be a great match because of everything that’s happened in the past. Heard himself that he talked about me a few days ago and said that I learned to keep quiet,” Vafei said.

“We play snooker and the way he speaks is rough, as if it’s boxing. If we want this sport to progress, we have to respect each other. He’s already proven himself, he’s done everything in this sport. I hope to play against Dinga. If he beats me 13:0, I will still be glad that I played that match,” he added.
