Cohen also resolved general public trust in the agency considering that the starting of the COVID-19 pandemic.

GOP lawmakers wrote a letter in June urging President Biden to withdraw his appointee.

"Dr. Cohen is unfit for the place," the lawmakers asserted. "In the course of her occupation, Dr. Cohen has politicized science, disregarded civil liberties, and spread misinformation about the efficacy and requirement of COVID vaccinations and the requirement of masks for the duration of her time as the Secretary of the North Carolina Well being and Human Providers."
