The five U.S. Marines who died in a military aircraft crash in Southern California on Wednesday have been determined.

The deceased have been recognized as Cpl. Nathan E. Carlson, 21, of Winnebago, Illinois Capt. Nicholas P. Losapio, 31, of Rockingham, New Hampshire Cpl. Seth D. Rasmuson, 21, of Johnson, Wyoming Capt. John J. Sax, 33, of Placer, California and, Lance Cpl. Evan A. Strickland, 19, of Valencia, New Mexico, the Marine Aircraft Wing Communication Approach and Functions office environment explained in a statement.

The Marines were killed when an MV-22B Osprey they ended up riding in crashed around Glamis, California on June 8, 2022, the office environment explained.

Losapio and Sax have been pilots of the Maritime Medium Tiltrotor (VMM) Squadron 364, Maritime Aircraft Group (Magazine) 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft MAW), although the other people have been crew chiefs, the statement added.

"It is with hefty hearts that we mourn the decline of 5 Marines from the Purple WHD loved ones" mentioned Lt. Col. John C. Miller, Commanding Officer of VMM-364, per the statement.

"This is an exceptionally hard time for VMM-364 and it is difficult to convey the affect that this loss has experienced on our squadron and its people," Miller included.
