Retired ski racer Lindsey Vonn declared Saturday that her mom, Linda Lindy Anne Lund, experienced died after getting rid of her calendar year-prolonged struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Lund died Thursday evening, a single calendar year to the working day soon after her ALS analysis, Vonn said. 

"My sweet mom Lindy has misplaced her struggle with ALS," Vonn wrote in an Instagram write-up. "She handed away peacefully as I held her hand, accurately one calendar year immediately after her diagnosis. I am so grateful for just about every moment I had with her but I am also thankful that she is no longer suffering and in peace. She was a shining mild that will under no circumstances fade and I will forever be encouraged by her."

The Olympic gold medalist's put up also showcased an excerpt from her memoir that she explained was "regrettably fitting."

Vonn experienced made an Instagram article in July celebrating her mother's toughness and resilience a year soon after her original prognosis. The article also bundled many photos of the two. 

"Considering the fact that obtaining a stroke although providing beginning to me, my Mom has been the picture of energy and far more particularly, resilience," Vonn wrote at the time.
